Chris Scott, author of the recently published sixth edition of the Adventure Motorcycling Handbook spells out how to tackle an overland adventure on a motorcycle. He goes through the best machines for the job, how to prepare and equip them, and outlines the classic trans-continental routes across Africa, Asia and Latin America.
16.00 "Trekking softly through Morocco's Atlas Mountains",
Alan Palmer, Theatre 3
Alan Palmer, author of Trailblazer's Moroccan Atlas - the trekking guide, describes the popular ascents: Jbel Toubkal (4167m) and Ighil Mgoun (4068m). He also covers lesser known stretches of the Western High Atlas plus the more southerly, desolate Anti-Atlas Mountains, dominated by the impressive volcanic plug of Jbel Sirwa (3305m), and the magnificent wilderness of Jbel Sahro.

12.00 "Kilimanjaro DIY – a practical guide to climbing Africa's highest mountain", Henry Stedman,Theatre 3
Henry Stedman has been writing guidebooks for a decade now and is the author or co-author of titles including Trailblazer’s guides to Kilimanjaro, Coast to Coast Path and Dolomites Trekking – Alta Via 1 & Alta Via 2, as well as The Bradt Guide to Palestine and the Rough Guides to Indonesia and Southeast Asia. He now spends part of each year on the slopes of Kilimanjaro helping to run a trekking company.
14.00 "Hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu", Alex Stewart,
Theatre 2
Alex Stewart is the author of the new edition of our guide, The Inca Trail, Cusco & Machu Picchu. He gave the last four Inca talks at the travel show and they seemed to be very well received. He is the author of Trailblazer’s New Zealand – The Great Walks, now works for travel specialist Wexas and has just returned from Peru.
