Laura Stone

Laura Stone began her cycling career in Cambridge, which is as flat as a puncture patch, by speeding to Classics lectures on a £5 bike. She then graduated to the hillier polders of Holland, where she updated the Rough Guide to the Netherlands.

After a collision with a bus on Putney Bridge in London she got back on her bike by booking a one-way ticket to the Indian Himalayas where she pedalled around very happily for five (accident-free) months, enough to qualify her to update the mountain chapters of the Rough Guide to India.  She spent the next two years cycling solo around the entire Himalaya to research Himalaya by Bike.
