Recommended by a walker:
page 40, Maps.
London National Park City, Greater London Area, green city map shows parks, play areas, sports fields, allotments, woodlands, cemeteries, rivers, nature reserves, great walks, outdoor activities and more.  It is an attractive publication, which would make a useful addition to the maps mentioned in the guide. On a small scale of 1:63,360, it's of limited value for navigational purposes in the field, but it would make an excellent display item, particularly for those intrepid hikers who have completed the full LOOP!

page 148, South Oxhey Playing Fields.  These were created in March 1952 when Watford Rural District Council closed Oxhey Golf Course  (1912-1952). The lower, eastern section was levelled in the 1950s, in order to allow pitches to be laid for football, cricket and rugby, as well a short pitch and putt course. The western end of the former course retained much of the original character, with bunkers and greens still discernible until the 1970s. Three years ago, information boards were placed at two of the entrances to SOPF, one of which is located close to the LOOP exit on Ashburnham Drive. Map 28, page 147.

page 149 Grim's Dyke Golf Course. Walkers taking the route alongside the northern boundary of Grim's Dyke Golf Course will find parts overgrown with brambles and a stout stick is recommended!

General.  A walker sent in this tip -  hikers could use the facilities at the numerous golf clubs encountered on LOOP, provided they obey the rules and keep to the markers.

page 152 Old Redding. The Case is Altered pub High Rd, Eastcote, Pinner HA5 2EQ has been noticed by a walker as shut on two occasions, so best to check in advance.   The walker recommends The Hare pub, Old Redding, Brookshill, Harrow Weald, Middlesex, HA3 6SD  next to the 258 bus stop on Map 29 Harrow Weald. www.hareoldredding.com.
