Updates relating to the 2nd edition

2024

April

Sheringham, YHA Sheringham. Like so many other YHAs post Covid, YHA Sheringham has a limited availability so advice is to check before you travel.

Sea Palling, Seabreeze Campsite. Website says it's not yet open but is taking provisional bookings for 2024.

Scratby, Scratby Bakery, 113 A Beach Rd, Scratby, Great Yarmouth NR29 3PG. Recommended by a walker.  Just off the NCP, they are open 7 days a week (8:30 - 14:00) and offer baked goods, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks.
A walker stayed at Scratby Hall Caravan Park (www.scratbyhall.co.uk - less than a mile from the NCP and they accept tents).

Some diversions in place following erosions over the winter months - all clearly marked.

p112 Castle Acre  The Ostrich in Castle Acre appears to be currently closed and their website doesn’t indicated when or if they plan to re-open.

Updates relating to the 1st edition

2021

August

p188 Map 44, East Runton. Leakes Caravan Park, Cromer Road. The coastal path runs behind the caravan park not through it. The coastal path signs point this way but people walking into the caravan park think it's the coastal path and then have to turn around after finding out it's a dead end and private property.

IMPORTANT: Hunstanton to Burnham Overy Staithe distance = 16½ miles

pp139 and 246  Note that the distance figure for this section, mentioned on p139 and in the text on the overview maps at the end of the book (p246), should be 16½ miles and not the 13½ miles as listed (which is only the distance from Holme to Burnham Overy Staithe without the 3 mile Hunstanton extension). We apologise for this error. The distance is correctly given on the profile diagram on p246.

2019

p15 September to December.  Norwich Beer Festival is at the end of October, not the end of September.

May

p130 Map 23, Holme-Next-The-Sea.  The White Horse pub is on the east of the road junction,  under the letter i in White on the map, not to the west of the road.

2018

pp106-7

As we go to press, the Blue Lion Pub in North Pickenham has reopened. New owners Wendy and Richard Pyne sent the following information: 'Hours: Mon-Wed - closed; Thurs - 1700-2300, Fri- 1500-midnight; Sat - midday-midnight ; Sun - midday-2230'

'Current opening hours are, for the time being limited, advance notice of a visit would be appreciated - phone 01760 622527. We may even be able to open the pub on scheduled closed days if numbers are sufficient. We do not currently serve food, but may possibly be able to provide if enough notice is given'.
